Assam Pekoemalt, cedar, citrus
Assam Pekoe is a succulent black tea with robust, malty, and citrus undertones.
The growers of this particular tea are skilled artisan pluckers, and “the pluck” is what distinguishes premium teas from lesser quality brands.
In general, Assam teas appeal to a tradition of tea forged from the British tea industry, popular in the UK, Ireland, South Asia, and the Middle East. It is a vigorous, tannic tea, often consumed with milk, perfect at breakfast or anytime you need a pick-me-up.
The word ‘pekoe’ refers to the grading system for tea, which is based on the size and type of tea leaf. In this case, the leaves are slightly larger than a leaf that is young, well-rolled and was recently a bud. It was produced from an excellent leaf creating a delicious black tea.
Assam is a region in northeastern India known for producing some of the world’s greatest teas. It is a low-lying fertile space surrounding the Brahmaputra River.
